Random Thoughts

This page will contain my random thoughts and any odd, weird, or unusual items I find.

Well missed a few posts there. Had some back problems and couldn't spend much time sitting up at computer. So welcome to March. After February's packed month of holidays March takes it a little slower. In fact a lot slower there is only one holiday this month.
Saint Patrick's Day - March 17th Want to know more?
Feeling a little let down, wishing there were more to celebrate? Well have no fear here are some lesser known events to celebrate this month.
March is National Frozen Food Month, National Noodle Month, and National Peanut Month.
March 1st is National Pig Day and Peanut Butter Lover's Day. But for goodness sake please don't mix the two.
March 5th is Multiple Personalities Day, so feel free to talk to all those voices in your head that won't shut up about anything; I do all the time.
March 8th is Be Nasty Day, so go ahead and cuss that nice young man out who pulled you over to chat about your vehicle speed.
March 9th is Panic Day. If you followed yesterdays advice, today is definitely a good time to Panic.
March 15th is Buzzard's Day, so be nice to the buzzards you meet; winged or otherwise.
March 22nd is National Goof-off Day. Be sure to stay home, watch t.v. and avoid anything productive.
March 26th is Make up Your Own Holiday Day. So get busy, make your own holiday and see how many people you can get to celebrate it with you.
So that should give you a little something fun to do this month besides just wearing green for one day.

There are few people who haven't heard of Mardi Gras but do you know the reason and origin of this event?
Mardi Gras (French for Fat Tuesday) is the day before Ash Wednesday. Mardi Gras was a last chance to celebrate and feast in excess before the start of Lent, a time of fasting.
Todays Mardi Gras is a huge party and celebration with Louisiana being the most recognized party city. For Louisiana this celebration is a much needed event. The chance to celebrate life and much needed tourist income.

The month of February while the shortest month of the year, as well as the only month with a changing number of days, is about to close. For such a short month February has a few events and quite a bit of importance.
Feb. 2 - Groundhog Day
The day when Punxsutawney Phil (say that 5 times fast) shows his face in Pennsylvania to let us know if there will be 6 more weeks of winter. Phil has predectided 6 more weeks of winter, so keep your summer clothes in the closet for now. Read more at Wikipedia.
Feb. 14 - Valentine' Day
The day for love to blossom. Find out about this holidays unique and interesting beginnings.
February also brings us Super Bowl Sunday and Presidents Day. February is also National Dental Month (so go brush those teeth and maybe even floss) and American Heart Month.
Another important holiday of February is the celebration of Black History Month. Read more about Black History.
Later this week we will take a look at March events and holidays.

There is one new release this weekend, Doogal.
Excerpt from Yahoo:
Legend tells of three magic diamonds that, if in the wrong hands, can be united to create a force powerful enough to freeze the sun. When the evil sorcerer Zeebad escapes from his ancient prison, he vows to exact revenge by deep-freezing the earth forever. Determined to save the world, a fellowship of four unlikely heroes band together to foil Zeebad's villainous plot.

Doogal stars some well known names. Whoopi Goldberg plays Ermintrude, Chevy Chase as The Train, Jimmy Fallon as Dylan, and Jon Stewart as Zeebad. While previews have left me slightly interested what most catches my attention is this film is done by the same people who brought us HoodWinked; an amazing film. We will have to wait and see if they can bring us another power house of a movie that the whole family can enjoy.

I have been doing a little movie watching the past week or so. I just finished watching MirrorMask. The movie is awesome, though not for everyone. I would not recommend it for younger children 10 and under. (Well duh it is a PG-13) If you are artistic, like to paint, draw, write, craft, etc. or have a friend who does this is a must watch film. To miss seeing this film is a crime. The imagery and sound are amazing. I especially love the "Close to You" song sung towards the end of the film, it is a very unique rendition of the song that is amazing. All the songs in this movie are all wonderfully and slightly oddly renditioned; bringing a new approach to the music.
I give this film a 4 out of 5 stars:

Came across this little video. Now this looks like a news show from China. If this is not a faked video, you have to wonder what this guy was thinking.

Guy Catches a Tree.

I often have random thoughts or odd news or the occasional funny I like to share with friends. With blogs being popular I figured it was a great way to share the weird, odd, funny, or just plain unusual with more people. I must warn you this blog will have some very odd and weird stuff but I promise to try and keep it PG-13 at worse.
